Formed in 2021, Heel is the music project of former Andrew and the Giants members Andrew Fialka (drums), Rob Bratney (bass and vocals), and Nick Friedman (guitar). In 2007, the members brought a teenagers’ love of punk, emo, and stoner rock into, oddly, a hip hop group. There, they drilled timing, simplicity, and songwriting en route to releasing an EP and LP in punk’s budget-conscious, DIY fashion. A decade-long hiatus rendered the members over a thousand miles apart, each fighting their respective COVID battles. In that negative space, Heel was reborn, its creative energy providing a necessary outlet. The band is our testament to life’s perseverance and balance.
